Every morning in January I’ve spent an hour on trapeze as part of Fun-a-Day Philadelphia. My goal is to create a short series of aerial dance videos, but I’m also really appreciating the daily pocket of solitude, the sun rising over the Schuylkill, ice flowers formed fresh every night on the car windows, quiet conversation with my body, being alone with my music and the Performance Garage's beautiful stage. Getting placed outside my normal routine has stretched my sense of time like taffy— this month has felt twice as long! If you want to see what comes out of my trapeze diary experiment, come to the Fun-a-Day Philadelphia show on 2/7 and 2/8.
Tangle made its NYC debut as part of the HOT! Festival at Dixon Place! We shared three audience favorites from Invert! and premiered a brand-new trapeze-and-ensemble piece from our new show in development, Break/Drift/Resist. Break/Drift/Resist will be part of the 2013 Philly FringeArts festival— check it out!
Spent last evening at the closing show of Invert by Tangle Movement Arts at The Rotunda in Philadelphia. It was a great show, we will be posting a fair amount of shots in the upcoming days. Many thanks to Lauren Rile Smith for making it possible for me to attend.
We had an amazing time performing Invert! at the Rotunda! Thank you so much to Juan and Philadelphia Dance Photo Project for these lovely photos. I especially love the shot of my duo rope performance!
Our friend and incredible photographer Mike Ermilio took these photos of Invert! in rehearsal at The Rotunda in West Philly. That 1500-lb cast-iron chandelier in the foreground makes a nice contrast to our 200-lb aluminum rig!
